13,14 x 38: Belize & Honduras Trip!

IMG_6102Gluttony knows no boundaries, and every cruise ship in the world knows this. I can only be thankful I got to experience this for myself. With friends, I experienced quick day trips in Cozumel, Belize, and Honduras all while digesting the unlimited food, entertainment, and relaxation available to me for 7 days.

IMG_6675Here is what really stood out to me among the blur of sea across shining sea. Even more than the relaxing massages, lunches, and walks through Cozumel and Roatan. Caye Caulker, Belize. This is where we got off the ship, took a water taxi through seafoam and aqua water, and found a legendary sports bar with the even more legendary jerk chicken wings. Along the way, I saw a window into my future: Swallow Caye Research Center. Since my research for my thesis includes dolphin studies in the Belize area, it seemed entirely fitting that I see a facility included in my research with my own eyes. It was one of those moments where you know everything is right, and if it is not right yet, everything will be right. Right away.

IMG_6646Gluttony has a way of removing stresses and replacing them with better emotions in life. Gluttony and I are strangers, but for one week, it was like I was with an old wise friend who taught me more about relaxation than any other. When the trip was over, my time with friends complete and I was safely returned home, I enjoyed cooking my own meal (not surprisingly, jerk chicken wings). I will miss my friend, but I appreciate the ‘better emotions in life,’ part enough to get over it.

IMG_6084PS: The numbering of these countries is correct. During the copious hours I had to relax, I realized that I have also been to England as a child. While brief (changing airports), it counts. So as not to renumber all of my countries, I’ve adjusted according. This makes Belize country #13 and Honduras #14.
