Friends Safari

It's all about perspective...

It’s all about perspective…

S:  It’s been an unbelievably difficult stretch for me; at times I’ve felt like a sinking vessel.  Brutal time on all fronts, all at the same time… I’ve been through more and worse, given less, and I know pity or regret doesn’t work.  So, how do we survive the perfect storms in our lives, and how are we reminded of what is most important?

A:  Simple.  The answer is friends.  They encourage, love, support, and give so much without asking for a thing in return.  And in my case, they arrive from all corners of the world to be with me.  For what reason?  You’ll have to ask them, but I have a feeling seeing the sites of Houston are not exactly one of them.  Maybe it’s to discover what is most important, together…

F:  They also put up with, and share, the nincompoop side of us.  Ok, dude, me.  They remind us, ok, me, to not take life so seriously.

A: Did I cast an SOS?  I admit that I struggle between the notion of companionship, relationship, and friendship.  Is it complicated?  Which is which?  To me, one cannot have one without the other; but where is that safe place where they overlap, or do they pass each other in the night?  I suppose it’s all about perspective, and we are all at times lost for the sea of unknown around us.

R:  It helps to have friends in high places.  Awesome reminders of important passions; travel, education, health, fairness and balance, loyalty, and empowerment.  Maybe the magic of amazing friends is that they tug you to the next landmark through uncharted territory.  They don’t hold life against you, nor take life out on you.  They keep agreements and are gentle, yet continue their own route.  They are not you, I am not them, but we are all somehow in this great world together.

I:  Like I said, friends are magic.  The reason and season for friends is here.  The storm is passing, and there is no more room for sadness in this optimistic mind and heart.  That ship has sailed.
